At present 50 Professors and more than 280 Assistant Professors (PhD) work fruitfully at 36 Departments of the Medical University. Among them there are Member of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, numerous Honored Science and Education Workers, Full Members of New York Academy of Medical Sciences. The researches of the University have attained considerable achievements in the fields of cardiology, traumatology and orthopedics, gastroenterology, pediatrics, kidney physiology and pathology. More than 100 of faculties’ staff have gone to countries of Asia, Africa and Central America at different times and worked in various higher medical institutions; they have a good command of foreign languages and rich experience working with students from abroad.

Bukovinian State Medical University is attested according to the highest (the fourth) Level of accreditation. The University activities conform with The Constitution of Ukraine, Ukrainian legislation, acts issued by the President and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Decrees of the Health Department and Education Department of Ukraine, the University Rules.Bukovinian State Medical University is a member of the European association of the University (CRE) and the international Association of University (IAU).

Bukovinain state medical University has very good facilities. There are seven buildings for theoretical classes and a wide net of clinical bases of medical institutions of chernivtsy, which are equipped at the level corresponding to world standards. Today Bukovinain State Medical University is a complex of buildings designed for practical classes, lectures, laboratory studies, library, research work and auxiliary services, covering. The total area owned by the Bukovinian state medical University is 85000 sq.m: within it the area of study and laboratory premises is 40865 sq. mts. The teaching area per one student is 17 sq.m. Other clinical bases used by the Bukovinian state medical University are administered by the Government healthcare department.

Bukovinian state medical university is recognized by World Health Organisation,and almost all the Medical Councils of world.

International Department

The Department of International Relation

The Department of International Relations of Bukovinian State Medical University was founded in 29.10.2003 by the order of the Rector on the basis of corresponding directive documents of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The activity of the Department of International Relations is guided by operating acts, orders, instructions and recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ministry of Health of Ukraine, orders of the rector of university, decisions of an academic council of University.

Today the work of the Department of International Relations is organized by the Vice-Rector on Science and the international relations, the Professor of faculty of the general surgery, topographical anatomy and operative surgery, the doctor of medical sciences Olexander Ivashchuk.

The chief of the Department of International Relations is Eduard Savchuk.

Today the structure of department is following:

1. Mykytyuk Oksana - the expert under the international relations of 1 category;

2. Marchuk Yuliya - the expert under the international relations of 1 category;

3. Andriychuk Denys - the expert under the international relations of 1 category;

4. Gavryljuk Iryna - the operator of a computer set.

The purpose of activity of the Department of International Relations is integration of university into the international academic society, into the world scientific process.

The main tasks and aims of the Department of International Relations:

• The organization of cooperation with educational institutions, scientific and public organizations, agencies, funds of other countries, and also their representations in Ukraine;
• Coordination of work with the ministries, educational institutions, the public and private organizations of Ukraine concerning the international relations;
• Spreading of information about Bukovinian State Medical University, gathering of the necessary information, support of the electronic correspondence;
• Support of relations with foreign partners in the field of joint researches, exchanges of professorial-teaching structure and students. The invitation of foreign citizens for studying and postgraduate studying at university;
• 5.Providing of the information, the advisory help and the help for departments, teachers and students of university concerning opportunities carrying out of the general researches, training and probation abroad;
• Creation of opportunities for improvement of colloquial preparation by teachers and students of university. The organization of development and the edition of the scientific-methodical literature in English, German, French and the Arabian languages for realization of preparation of experts for the foreign countries;
• Generalization and the analysis of reports about the international activity and development of offers on its improvement.

Bukovinian State Medical University cooperates with: Universities of Minsk, Sankt-Peterburg, Russian Federation, Carls-Harus University, University of Drezden, Konstanz (Germany), Austria and Poland, Vibersk University of Salt-Lake-City (USA) and Medical Academy of Akmolinsk (Kazhahstan). Bukovinian State Medical University cooperate also Gelderzee-Vallei Klinik (Netherlands), Psychiatric Klinik of Mjunsterling (Switzerland) and medical institutions of Australia and organization “Druzi” (France), organization of California.

The basic directions of activity of the Department of International Relations

The Programs of Exchanges

The Department of International Relations gives information and practical help in the organization of probation and the exchange of scientific, clinical interns, post-graduate students and students themselves; the general exchange of programs of preparation of experts, educational and test materials from theoretical and clinical disciplines; invites foreign scientists, teachers and experts in the field of public health services.

Now the staff of the Department of International Relations works with following programs of exchanges:

• the exchange of students with medical institutions of Vienna (Austria);
• the exchange of students with medical institutions of Montpellier (France);
• the exchange of students with DAAD (Germany);
• the exchange of students with Fullbright Programs (USA);
• the exchange of students with medical institutions of Poland;
• the exchange of students with medical institutions of Czech Republic;
• the exchange of students with medical institutions of Switzerland.

Programs of the general researches

The Department of International Relations gives help in creation of programs of joint researches in different fields of medical science, and also in the publication of results of scientific researches and development in scientific magazines and collections of works which are published at university. Today joint researches with German, English, Polish, French, Swiss collegues are carried out.

Joint publishing projects

The department supervises the general development of textbooks, monographies, the scientific and methodical literature, scientific and multimedia compact discs in different fields of medicine and helps with searching of grants on their edition.

Partner relations

The department is responsible for preparation and reception of official foreign delegations, representatives and experts, develops contracts and memorandums about cooperation with foreign partners, coordinates cooperation with them and gives the technical help to official delegations of University for foreign trips.
